KATHABI would not have been possible without the generation cooperation of the following institutions and individuals. Intsrumental to the success of this collaboration is the patronage of two universites, The Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts-University of the Arts Singapore (NAFA-UAS) School of Fashion Studies and School of Arts Management Dance and Theatre and the University of the Philippines (UP) College of Home Economics (CHE) and College of Music (CMu) Tugtugan Musika Asyatika (Tugma). Dr Filomar Cortezano Tariao

DrFil, as his students fondly calls him is grateful to the NAFA ColLab team for supporting the creation of KATHABI . He is the incumbent president of the World Dance Alliance Singapore and has had a professional performing, teaching and choreographing career spanning over 2 decades internationally. He is also a published author as well as a presenter in international festivals and conferences. He is currently is a Master of Science in Learning candidate at NIE and is excited to embark on this collaboration with the School of Fashion and University of the Philippines. Anthony Tan

is the Vice Dean of The NAFA SOAD Fashion Studies Programme. He has a MA in Costume Design for Performance from UAL - London College of Fashion (UK). Some of Anthony’s significant costume designing works include Twelve Angry Men (The Esplanade Singapore Huayi Festival 2013), Red Sky(2016), Art Studio(Singapore International Art Festival 2017) and Between you & Me (The Esplanade Singapore Huayi Festival 2022) by Nine Years Theatre, ITSY The Musical by The Finger Players, Mergers & Accusations by The Esplanade Singapore and All the World is One’s Stage by Toy Factory Productions (The Esplanade Singapore Huayi Festival 2021).
This collaboration was closely supervised by Anthony Tan and Lecturer Georgette Yu together with the Year 1 BA(Hons) Design Practice students.

Georgette SY Yu

is a fashion lecturer with Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. She has built her career as a freelance designer and worked with Singapore brands such as Woods & Woods and Ghim Li Global Pte Ltd. She completed her Master's Degree in Arts Pedagogy and Practice from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2018. Her research work explored the topic of creativity and identity of artist-educators. She has worked closely with her Vice Dean, Anthony Tan on this collaborative project.

TUGMA

is the premier performing arts organization under the Department of Musicology of the University of the Philippines College of Music. Its primary aim is to convey awareness on the importance of the music and cultures of Asia, especially the Philippines. The members of the organization studies and performs the Mindanao Kulintang Ensemble, the Cordillera Bamboo and Gong Ensemble, the Indonesian Gamelan, the Japanese Koto, the Chinese Sizhu and the Korean Samulnori. The group is continuously exploring new and different ways of playing different Asian soundscapes both in the traditional and contemporary contexts -- carrying the strong purpose of showcasing diverse Philippine and world music elements.
